Mosquito Hill Wines
The 2013 Sparkling Rose is the first time we have made this style and we are very pleased with it. It is made from chardonnay and pinot noir grown at Mosquito Hill. We made the base wine and then it was sent to Michael Sykes at Lodestone for the secondary fermentation in the bottle in which it is presented . This, of course, is the time honored method which is used to make fine Champagne. The wine has a wonderfully fine bead and the onionskin color which is seen in many upper end Champagnes. It is a brut style but has a lovely fullness in the mouth where the unmistakable taste of strawberries and cream is hinted at. We have no idea what its ageabiliy will be, but can't see why any one would want to keep it as it is delicious now!
