Mosquito Hill Wines
2015 Mosquito Hill Savagnin Blanc
Savagnin is an ancient grape and seems to figure in the genetic background of many well known grape varieties, including the pinot family. We have half an acre growing on our Magpies Song vineyard. It cropped quite well at 2.8 tonnes per acre (52 hl/ha ) in 2015, enabling us to make a tank fermented dry white wine from the variety. The wine has a refreshing mouth feel with pleasant fruit characters with just the merest hint of tropicality. This style of wine is made for using as an aperitif on a hot summers day.
