Pinot Blanc

Pinot Blanc is an interesting grape and it is probably one of the parents of Chardonnay (along with an obscure grape called Gouais). We grafted an acre of Pinot Blanc to our Chardonnay beginning in 2009 and small parcels of wine were made in 2010, 2011 and 2012. They were all flavoursome, if a bit on the rustic side. Our first commercial bottling was the 2013 vintage and we are very pleased with it. It is quite dry, but has a nice mouthfeel and reminds us of a southern Rhone style of wine. Only 150 dozen were made and because our vineyard is dry grown and low yieding all succesive vintages have led to low amounts of the wine being available. In 2014 ther were only 50 dozen in, 2015,  120 dozen and similarly in 2016. The 2015 and 2016 wines are a little more generous in their fruit flavoir than the 2013, but are otherwise similar.
