2014 was a very low yielding year, similar to 2012, and the Hawthorns vineyard yielded only 2.8 tonnes of fruit or 11.3 hl/ ha (0.7 t/a).Current wine lore is that this means the fruit should be maximally flavorful although the relationship between yield and quality has probably been overplayed in the wine industry. Nevertheless the fruit was healthy and ripe and has produced  an excellent darkish wine with black fruits to the fore. We have slowly increased the whole bunch component in our Pinot and it was 40% in this wine, giving it  nice structural tannins and suggesting the wine will have a long life in the bottle. It was raised in French oak barriques , 25 % new and the remainder one and two year old barrels
